A witty triumph. I like it as much as “Pet Sounds.” One of the underrated gems of the 1970s. Not only is Brian back in rare form, but Dennis kicks ass, Al is great on Honkin, and Mike brings his best to Johnny Carson.

If you love Brian and the rest of The Beach Boys...this is a must album for your collection. It has all the elements that a ‘Beach Boy’ fan is longing for! Love, laughter and wanting lyrics take you on an incredible journey of musical madness, that only Brian could take you on. Enjoy!

Well, Brian writes all the songs on this one and the “sound” and vocals are back BUT not the magic of melodies, harmonies (mostly), and song-smithing. Honestly, sounds like a bunch of drunks with tiny little windows of accidental coherence. Brian once said in an interview, without hesitation, that this was his favorite Beach Boys album. It might have been therapeutic &/or fun to record but I just don’t enjoy it very much.
