2023 Album of the Year

By The Cross is Enough!
This is my favorite Ed Sheeran album he's ever done. So many well crafted songs. So much emotion and passion put into it. You cen feel the trials he went through this last year. For awhile I couldn't pick a favorite. But after listening to the album about 4 times through my favorite is Sycamore. It just takes you to that place that's impossible not to sing along or hum it. The 1st single is up there, Dancin With My Eyes Close. Classic Ed. Life Goes On would be my 2nd or 3rd favorite song. You can go on and on with these. So many good songs. Ed will have a tough time selecting songs to play at his concert, there are so many great ones to choose from. A great problem to have. He's on top of his game and the industry and for that I believe this is his best work and worthy of every accolade and award possible.

These songs perfectly express the feelings of struggling with grief and trying finding joy as you move through/past the hurt and pain of losing someone. I have no idea how he’ll be able to perform these live…I would be a sobbing mess as I tripped over my memories. I applaud him for his openness of his heartbreaking lyrics (especially given how private he is). It’s definitely a departure from his normal style, but it is so well done. All in all a beautiful acoustic album (which was his goal). I love it.

Working with Aaron Dessner made a big difference. Ed comes across as more vulnerable and sincere.
Absolutely love it

I love Ed’s music but this album is my favorite. Maybe it’s the stage of life and loving calmer music but it’s amazing. If you have time go watch his documentary on Disney+ it builds a different connection to the album. He did amazing as always

I thought Divide was his best album, as it was my all time favorite so far, Equals was a beautiful album and i loved it, however - Subtract is downright my new favorite, possibly my favorite Ed album yet. all the lyrics are incredible, the production, vibes, emotions and melodic tones are amazing. if you’re someone who’s been through, or experienced loss & heartbreak, and needs comfort, and a musical hug, this one is for you. 💛
