Voices don't get better than Ben Gibbard's. And he's one of the greatest song writers of our time.
    • Good job DCFC...on finally sounding like DCFC again.

Kintsugi is the DCfC album that "Plans" should have been. And then we could all just forget that "Narrow Stairs" ever happened. At least we can all agree that there will never be another "Transatlanticism"

This is a great album, but if you're a long time Death Cab fan waiting for a Transatlanticism Volume II, well...it's not that. I love Death Cab for Cutie. To me, I doubt anything will ever beat the organic sounds from The Photo Album or the dreary feel from Transatlanticism. That was when they were at their best. That being said, I really enjoyed their two albums after Transatlanticism. I especially loved their sound in Narrow Stairs, but when I listened to Codes and Keys, I hated it. It made me think that Death Cab is done as we know it. Luckily, this album is very good. The songs that stood out to me were the first track, "The Ghosts of Beverly Drive", and "Ingenue". "Ingenue" is probably the best one on this album in my opinion. Codes and Keys was supposed to be a happy, uplifting album. This one is quite dark and emotional, which Death Cab is well accustomed to. So there is hope that Death Cab can keep making good stuff! We'll see how things go without Chris Walla.

The writing, lyrics, and music is beyond amazing. In response to another reviewer stating it is like a sequel to Transatlanticism, spot on. Could've been called "Trance"atlanticism because it truly puts me in another place when I listen with headphones. I am like a kid going to Disney World, I couldn't wait to get up the next day just to listen again. 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, 10/10, whatever rating system you want to use, its what music was meant to be.
