The remastering seems to be largely the product of renormalization, resulting in a rounder bass guitar and a pleasing high end clarity to the electric guitar that can be indistinct if not paying attention in the original mix. The real treasures in this album are the EP tracks from the Cranberries' earliest days. Records like this are a gift to long-time fans, as the "new" material presents songs with a sound akin to the tracks that first made us fall in love with the band during our halcyon college years. Even newer fans will inhale the expanded body of work with delight.
Last year's passing of O'Riordan gives the album additional weight. This album is the Cranberries as we first knew them; their legacy demands we revisit these adventurous teenagers expressing their earliest musical instincts.
