I love EJ especialy the old stuff. One of my favorite all time songs is Susie (Dramas). The song is funky and rocks. So underated and deserves to be listed as one of the greats.

I believe Honky Chateau is John coming into his best form off the heels of Madman Across the Water (his 1st great album). A true classic that will always be in my rotation. I can’t recommend this CD enough!
    • One of the BEST two Elton John records E-VER!

This is the first Elton John album’s that really caught my ear and attention. At some point I added to my collection of previous recordings, culminating with “Good-Bye Yellow Brick Road”. Sandwiched between the two is another gem, “Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player” I feel everything that came after GBYBR showed a steady decline... but that’s just my opinion.

A lot of people will say that Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the album that put Elton John on the map. I disagree. I think Honky Chateau was the album that put Elton John on the map. This was his first in a string of consecutive albums to hit number 1 and really made Elton John a household name. Also, one of Elton’s best songs “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters” appears on this album.
