Back To The Water Below

This was one of those that took a few repeat listens to get hot. Now every song hits. Nice road trip groove and I will be mixing it in with some of the rest of their albums for a long play.

Honestly, this album is extremely boring. I got into Royal blood because they are way more upbeat than most groups in this genre, but this was the complete opposite. Everything sounds the same and nothing stands out. Feels like they’re not even trying.

I like this minalistic approach in music, Black Keys, The Record Company, Royal Blood - my only "but" is song writing and commonality of sound from song to song loses me a bit with all these groups. I like the genre I can't take big doses of it though

I do wish there was one more banger on this album. Most are more mid-tempo but there’s not a bad track on it. “Triggers” is one of the best tracks they’ve ever done. “The Firing Line” is great. As is “How Many More Times”. “There Goes My Cool” has Beatle vibes. Oddly, I think the weakest track was the opening single, “Mountains at Midnight”. Highly recommend the album and their best effort to date.

This album is awesome it has the classic royal blood sound but also a new sounds as well with a touch of blues to it. The more I listen the more I’m loving it!

The first two singles were OK but the rest of the album is fantastic. This album and “How did we get so dark?” are their best.
