I ran into Leland Sklar a few years ago. Leland is a studio bass player that played on most James Taylor earlier albums. I asked him which of James Taylor's albums was his favorite that he played on. He answered Flag….

iTunes... please correct the spelling in your album review (above) of the late, brilliant keyboardist (and great guy) Don Grolnick. Not Dan...

Peter Asher won Rolling Stone's award for Producer of the Year for, among other records, JT, which was a great record because it was so incredibly intimate and underproduced. What happens next? Make a non-intimate, overproduced record, which is Flag. There are some great songs here -- Millworker, Sleep Come Free Me and Up On the Roof still hold up. But this isn't as much a James Taylor record as an Asher-Kortchmar-Grolnick-Sklar-Kunkel record of songs by James Taylor. And the cover of Day Tripper might be the lowest point of his entire (brilliant) career.

This album, perhaps more than any other by James, demonstrates the depth and breadth of one the greatest singer-songwriters of his generation. Its review demonstrates just how eager some people are to advertise their ignorance.

This, for me, is the most satisfying JT album from start to finish. Highlights, and among his very best works: Company Man, B.S.U.R., Millworker, and Up On the Roof.

Out of all of JT's albums this is by far the best one to me. Company man, Johnnie Comes Back, Is That the Way You Look?, and Up on the Roof are some of my favorite songs.

In all of J.T.'s discography this album may not be the strongest, but it is solid in its song, harmonies and stories. I love this album and the stories it tells. Mill Worker and Company Man and awesome and if you are a true J.T fan you wouldn't miss this one for anything! It brings back great memories of high school for me and I owned it originally of 8 track! Give this one a chance.
