Butterfly Lovers is a Chinese musical. Based on a love story with a background in the 17th century China. At the end of the story, the lovers both died and turned into butterflies. Originally created by the Chinese; the music has been played in many different instruments and by many people in the world.

I have heard these songs since I was little when I was growing up in China. Each I hear them I gain more appreciation for the music. The music written by a Chinese composer, but this particular performance is by Japanese. The album is excellent.

I haven't hear the other songs on this album, but I have played the Butterfly Lovers Concerto (Double Bass Player) and I love it. One of the best Progrmatic works ever.

I haven't bought this album, so I can't review on the music itself, but Butterfly Lovers is one of the most famous pieces of Chinese music ever written. The artist is Japanese, but don't be confused; this music is from China.

THIS IS CHINESE: The previous reviewer made an error when stating this was not Chinese. It is indeed. The featured violinist is Takako Nishizaki who is Japanese; however, the MUSIC is Chinese. The concerto was written by He Zhan-hao and Chen Gang in 1959 while studying at the Shanghai Conservatory. It is a great tribute to Western and Eastern sounds. The composers, orchestra and conductor are all Chinese.
