This is Kenny Wayne Shepherd as a young hot shot gun sling'n guitarist. Full of youth and energy with a whole lot bunch of good rock'n tunes to showcase his talents. If you ask me, that's not what it takes to make it in the music business. Sure you need talent, Kenny has a lot of talent, but you need good songs and a good singer to bring those songs to life. KWS put it all together on Ledbetter Heights. Sure he has copped a ton of Stevie Ray Vaughan's licks, but he does it a way that is paying tribute to the greats that has come before him. I personally love this album. It is what I call Hard Blues. It is all blues with a hard rock feel. If you are just now getting into Kenny Wayne Shepherd, this is a must have recording.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd came out with this CD way back in 1995. He was very young at the time that we saw him live at the Round House in historic Savannah, Ga. Shepherd absolutely blew me away with his style of playing. Raw old school blues with Kenny not singing on any of the tracks, he let's the guitar sing through the notes. Savannah is a small town and it was nice to see him play live. His style is a lot like Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Tab Benoit - Best track is "I'm Leaving You" - Deja Voodoo is also great. If you like the blues then add this to your collection!
