I guess there’s a reason the review of this Los Lobos LP is all about Beverly Hills 90210….?

This was the first Los Lobos album I ever purchased back when it came out in the late 80's. Fantastic songs with soul. My favorite songs on the album are Tears of God and River of Fools
    • Maybe the best R&R album ever!

Great tunes, great lyrics! "One Time, One Night" talks about dreams unanswered, lives snuffed out too soon. "Is This All There Is?" is the most poignant summation of the immigrant experience I have heard. If you buy only songs, buy those. "Shakin Shakin' Shakes" gives you hard rock and roll for those who think social commentary gets in the way. "All I Wanted to do Was Dance" has beautiful harmonies. "Prenda del Alma" tells you where this sound came from. The rest of the Hidalgo/Perez songs show you that poetry, social commentary, and rock and roll are not incompatible. You can feel and think at the same time. If you want raw feeling without so much poetry, the Rosas songs are simple and powerful.

Very good album from Los Lobos. Wrong review from the geniuses at iTunes, though. (But what's new?) Peace Out!
