    • New or Old?

This album, as we all know, goes off in different directions than his other albums. A change of pace is always nice, but It's not as creative as his previous material save for about 3 or 4 songs which isn't bad. I don't know if this is an album for Devendra fans only - or an album for new fans only. Probably a bit of both. All around though, this is Devendra Banhart -- the man who has been giving me great freaky folk albums to listen to over the past few years. All I have to do now is adjust my attitude towards this new musical direction of his, kick back and enjoy the mellow-ness of it. It's not very complicated as some reviewers tend to think it is (hello Pitchfork).

I'll give you that, it is different, it is more refined, but friends, it's still very much my man, Devendra! Let him mix it up a bit, and you just sit back and enjoy it. I'll still buy into him. Anytime he's here I'll see him. It's just bromance! Thank you bud. Much appreciated.

Some simple acoustic that he is known for and some that kicks it up a little, seems that he has become interested in a motown sound recently, quick guitar with a smile isn't a bad thing. And you're not cool for name dropping his demo and trashing his new stuff because it's "over produced" get over yourself.

This Album is simply one of the "must have"s of 2009. I've seen him live at Berklee in Boston and I was really impressed. Buy it!

Seems that this was rushed by the major, hot on the heels of Smokey Rolls... But hey, good on you Devendra!

HAHA, I know Devendra. Besides the point, I love this album. Its different, but come on we all know that Devendra likes to change things up a bit. I LOVE LOVE 'Baby'! NP? We'll never know. Devendra's voice has always brought some sort of crazy calm to my being. I love you friend. Thank you for the beautiful music you create.

I see that many people are complaining about this album being over produced. It is true, there is a lot more production involved in this album than his other stuff. But is that a bad thing? It's definitely not as weird as his old stuff (which I like just as much) but it still has that Devendra quirkiness.
