Brilliant and uncompromising, this 1959 mash up of two of the most influential artists of the mid-century is a must own delight. Howard Brubeck hands his genius brother a gem of a suite and Dave and Leonard Bernstein deliver a knockout. Also buy on vinyl if you have a turntable. Truly sublime.

The first side of the album is a piece written by one of Brubeck's relatives, Howard Brubeck. The NY Phil and Dave's group play it exceptionally well, considering how difficult it must be to do. And the second side, with the quartet pieces, seems a lot mellower. Either way, it's a classic example of genius+genius=excellent album. I recommend this to anyone interested in Jazz, Classical, or showtunes.
