This seems an absurdly small price to pay for such an insanely great album, particularly since I will listen to it (as I have all of Adam Franklin's material) for years to come. While his three previous releases contained some classic tracks, I have to admit that to my ears they lacked a bit of continuity, and contained a few songs that I could have done without. Black Horses, however, had me rapt from its opener, the brilliant, powerful "Asha", all the way through to its melancholic closer, "Long Way Home". As others have stated, the album has a distinctive "soundtrack" feel that has become an Adam Franklin trademark of sorts, an "Boom!" is easily imagined as the opener of a James Bond film. Great songwriting and musicianship, as always, and it literally took me six or seven listens to "Asha" before I even cared to venture into the album's second track. $6.99??? I had $10 worth of music with "Asha" alone!
