A cappella, Sondheim, and Soul

Glee puts together a musically challenging but beautiful EP with this one. I like Glee songs best when they try new arrangements rather than copycat covers, and this collection does not disappoint. Two haunting a cappella numbers ('Not While I'm Around' from Sweeney Todd & 'No One Is Alone' from Into the Woods), two other Sondheim classics ('Broadway Baby' and 'I'm Still Here,' here sung by a young Kurt rather than an aging Stritch), and two soulful R&B numbers by the talented Mercedes are all interesting, produced with a light touch, and worth many listens. The Glee we loved is back!

This is the second Glee song I've ever bought, and the first one also involved Amber Riley. She has a beautiful voice and she has not disappointed with Colorblind. I never pay more then .99¢ for a song, and I happily forked over $1.29 for Colorblind. Kudos Amber Riley!
