Picture this baby...it's autumn of 1968 and America is tripping; everyone is grooving to their own thing at last. Now, Sly and his Family put out this record---it's funky and it rocks and it's a stone soul groove! Get this one and dance/think/trip all at the same time. a whole new thing was sly's clever entry in the world. dance to the music had a chip on its shoulder that it had something to prove to the world. stand! is the album that made them mega stars so that was jackpot there's a riot goin on is the most beautiful painful car accident you'll ever witness in black music: awesome to watch, horrible to live in. fresh in a way is sad in the eyes of sly fans for they pretty much say this is the last perfect sly album, kinda like the place that you hold in your heart for stevie's "hotter than july" or prince's "lovesexy". and of course although "small talk" had awesome moments, many say that is when the cracks started to show. life if his perfect gem. his most clever wordplay, his most experimental, his most rocking pop dittys are ALL here!!!!
