Well call me old fashion but five bucks for five song(not just any five songs but possible the best original american song witers best five) does not seem bad. I listen to John all my musical life and feel blessed to be alive when he is. Yes they are on other albums but their just what I needed Thx J and folks at Rhino. Pax

I don't think it's fair to penalize Prine for packaging this five-song EP. Let's judge the music -- not Rhino's marketing decision. These are *great* songs -- perhaps not the five best Prine cuts I'd choose, but "Hello In There" and "Souvenirs" would certainly be among them. Yes, it's entirely superfluous, and any fan has heard these songs countless times, but if you want a glimpse of Prine -- in all his quirkiness and genius -- this would be an adequate place to start. Of course, there are lots better places ("John Prine," his first album, includes three of these cuts), so I'd recommend you bypass this for one of his full-length albums.

John Prine is one of America's all-time best song writers and these examples are no exception. But, these 5 are already ou ther in multiple. Not quite clear on the point of this album. Oh my god, my review just became this album!

Anyone interested enough in buying these classic John Prine songs already has them on at least 2 other cd's/albums/etc. They are good, but if you are new to Prine and like what you may have already heard, bite the bullet and buy the 2 CD anthology. It covers most of his best songs and gives you over 40 songs. I just don't see the point in Hi-5.

any John Prine fan has heard these over the past decade(s) . Great John Prine songs. Any real fan has all of these already. Go listen to your old vinyl if you are really lucky.
