Some say over produced i say shined. Lori is talented beyond belief. Whether she's over produced or not this album is a 5 star. To those who are bashing tim and faith i respect them. They knew she was amazing and got alot more people interested pure and simple. Her back catalog had serious sales increase after she was signed to a major label. I will buy anything Lori does. She has a pure voice and sings honesty like no one else.

I'm glad a Boston artist is recieving so much attention. I'm glad the best songwriting really did rise to the top and Lori got all the opportunities a major label can offer. I hope she'll be able to send all her kids to college with the money she hopefully made from this batch of songs. But... the great thing about Lori's songwriting was that, yes, it was rootsy, but it did so with a voice that was unique to New England. I hope that for her next effort she will rediscover that voice and give the Beantown boys another call.

A lot of people have mentioned that this album was overproduced simply for radio popularity and I do agree that some songs, especially the title track are lacking in originality with the writing and sound being annoyingly generic. That being said however, nobody can deny that there are a lot of songs here that are genuine Lori. Like for example, the remake of Falter or Confetti (my current favorite), Drinkin' Problem, Your Next Lover, and Leaving This Life are all really good. So maybe it isn't Bittertown but at least in my opinon Lori is the real deal and if her sound changes to something a bit more mainstream no one can argue that she doesn't deserve the sucess, so snaps for Lori and the rest of us can sit back and be smug that we knew all along she was great.
    • Just saw Lori Mckenna in Concert - Fantastic!

This album is fantastic. My wife introduced me to Lori Mckenna and I surprised her with front row seats to Lori's show. If you like this magnificent album and then go to her show if she comes anywhere near your city. As for being over produced, many songs on the record are very simple (cf. Bittertown). Falter, Your Next Lover and Confetti are three brilliant songs. In concert, she plays with two other musicians (no percussion), talks to the audience during and after the show. The whole evening is very intimate. She is a delightful and talented lady and you should see her now before she's playing giant venues and all you can afford are lawn seats!

Lori is such a good performer. I saw her perform as Tim & Faith's opening act in Portland for their Soul2Soul II tour, and I absolutely loved her! She has such amazing skill, and she puts it to work fabulously. I'm glad to see iTunes as so much of her music!

I just saw Lori and her band perform in CT last night and got to meet her. She is the real deal. A true performer yet very grounded in who she is. She sounded as wonderful live as she does on her cd's. Not many can say that these days as so many rely on the production, etc. Lori doesn't need to. Her voice is flawless. Her songwriting speaks volumes. I am a relatively new 'fan' having first seen her on Oprah. So happy for her success as a working mom of 5 from Massachusetts. Keep doing what you are doing, Lori, and much continued success!!!
    • Her lyrics capture feelings, moods and the ordinary amazingly well.

After downloading this album, I downloaded her other albums too but these are the songs that are constantly in my head and that I find myself humming. "Your Next Lover" was an instant favorite for me but "I'm Not Crazy" and "How to Survive" have become favorites. If you are not familiar with her music, listen to "Stealing Kisses" and compare that Faith Hill's version. If you prefer the Lori McKenna original then you should download her other music. If you prefer the Faith Hill version then maybe not. This album made me fan and hopefully you'll enjoy it too!
