I was checking out another artist on Itunes and was directed to Lori McKenna as someone to check out. This album hit me like a ton of brinks right from the beginning and still continues to impress. Her voice draws you in and compels you to listen. Her lyrics are point on: poetic and sparse—not a word wasted or added for effect. This album transcends the singer-songwriter genre and to me at least, redefines what country/roots music can really be about.

I have been a Lori fan for a couple years now and love her music! Had the opportunity to see her live in New Braunfels, TX and gave me chills!! This album has been worth the wait!

I have no idea what to say about this collection of heartfelt love and pain... I downloaded this on a business trip to Spain a few weeks ago and I listened to it every night - every listen opened new amazing insights - This is my favorite CD of the past 2 years! I hope she someday will come to the W coast - to see and hear this amazing poetry live. Another Lucinda - Bravo Bellissima!

Worth. The. Wait!!! This is a truly great album. Lori McKenna writes and sings on the American experience - love, loss, faith, commitment, family, community - with a singular, brilliant, moving, compelling style that is all her own. "Lorraine" is one of the great albums I've ever heard, a genuine classic.

I have been a Lori Mckenna fan for a while but this album is seriously her best yet and a couple of these songs have become instant favorites of mine. Her songwriting is unique and wonderful. The pictures she paints lyrically are genuine and drawn you in. Give this a try...you will not be disappointed.

Lori McKenna shows how to create true music. Lori has gone through hardships but, using her passion of music, has conveyed in such a beautiful and true tone that you become enthralled in its essence. At times sad, other times happy, some dreary, it does not matter...the truth is you owe it to yourself to give each song she has written a listen. Within each cd you will find songs that tug at your heart strings so that you can't help but relate it to your own existence. This review may come off a bit too pro-mckenna to some, but it would be a tragedy for you to miss out on this talent. Just take some time to remember what music is, a celebration of ones soul and inspirations. Lori sure can celebrate.
