BESIDES THE BIG HITS, THE NON HITS ARE JUST AS GOOD AND HARDER TO FIND. FEELIN' ALLRIGHT AND THIS IS YOUR LIFE ALONG WITH THE GREAT SOUND OF A LOVE LIKE OURS MAKES THIS A COMPLETE ALBUM .

The hits and the non hits are great here. The 4 singles are phenominal! Puppet Man, One Less Bell To Answer, Save The Country and the Declaration Medley are great for a variety of reasons. Kids should hear Declaration to learn the Declaration of Independence. One Less Bell To Answer is such a great ballad and the pop hits of the other two are ones that get you moving in your seat! The non hits are just as great. Dimension 5ive showcases their vocal abilities and a bit from studio drummer Hal Blaine. (Alot like their rock counterparts Mamas & Papas did on their version of Dancing in the Street. M&P used the same backing musicians) This Is Your Life is another great ballad and their cover of Feelin' Alright is a very soulful rendition. You even get the non album single side On The Beach In The Summertime! About the only cut I never liked was A Love Like Ours. However one bad tune out of 9 is why the old days were better, never much or any filler on these classics... A MUST HAVE FOR ANY COLLECTION!

i don't understand why they have not been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame - something isn't right in cleveland, perhaps early symptoms of alzheimer's??? my three favourites on the original LP are the three of four singles released - puppet man, one less bell, & the dy-no-MITE save the country. if any song has more meaning today with regards to the utter futility of WAR whether in vietnam or iraq it is this gem penned by laura nyro. it should have been a number one gold record for them. "on the beach" was never included on on of the 5D's albums but is a bonus pick here and what i had heard was that it was released too late in the summer of 1970 (or 1971) to get enough air play. it thoroughly jams and it gives you that good ole beer bottles in the cooler underneath the boardwalk kinda groove.
    • A Masterpiece!

Most people dont give The 5D props beyond Aquarius & One Less Bell. Certainly two pop classics to be sure. You probably had to live through during Tv's hey-day when you could catch these guys on a variety show. There was no internet, the glorious TV was our only source of information. This is a truly great record. Pop, Rock, Soul..all good! Buy the first 2 songs if you do nothing else. Great production, good songs, etc. They should be in the RR Hall of Fame! If you want something beyond the usual greatest hits packages, check this one out. A nice time piece.
