This album is definitley Jesse's finest effort! It's raw, pure, and melodic - even more emphasized by the sparse arrangements and instrumentation. I fell in love with this album when I first heard it... at the age of 3! Jesse's other albums sound much more poppy, as if he's trying to break through and come up with a hit. If he had kept writing with the heart & soul he puts across on Third Down, he just might have.

An unknown classic by a wildly underappreciated artist. Live From Mountain Stage is a wonderful solo acoustic record and Best Of includes the brilliant Mississippi You're on my Mind, A Showman's Life, and Biloxi, but this is Jesse's most consistent and beautifully rendered recording. Find out why Dylan is only one of his many admirers.
