This is a masterful collection of music and it is a masterpiece. The Stoic theme digs deep into your soul. The Shawshank Redemption carries you along its way to deliver the hearer to their redemption. So Was Red and the End Title are a beautiful conclusion and reminder that hope is a good thing. I wish that Morgan Freeman’s voiceover had been added as a bonus track with the score as his bed as proof of one of the most powerful pieces of prose ever written. Bravo!

I have probably watched and listened to TSR more than any film, the soundtrack especially can comfort you on a bad or good day. Overtime favorites shift and change, Thomas Newman has captured the subtlety of Andy Dufresne’s angst and makes us want more. “Rock Hammer” and “Compass and Guns” are bookends to AD’s friendship with Red, lovely as male friendships and their emotions aren’t often portrayed in film. If you’re not bawling by the end credits you simply aren’t human.

I love the music. It's beautiful and different songs evoke many different emotions. Some I feel happy and in a way, inspired. But many songs bring me to a dark place. I think the music is perfect in that it fits the movie so well. It's a dark and sad movie at many times but throughout the movie and especially at the end it brings you happiness and at least for me it inspires.

This soundtrack to me is one of the greatest to ever be heard in any film, especially one as good as The Shawshank Redemption. This soundtrack truly captures the terrible existence of Andy Dufresne and the other inmates. My favorite piece is "Shawshank Redemption" by Thomas Newman, which goes from Andy sitting in his lonely cell, to his ultimate redemption from Shawshank. I've praised this soundtrack for a long time, and am excited to see it on iTunes. One of the best movies and soundtracks ever made in history, definitely worth every cent.
