Ahoy! - EP

This is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. I think at one point I stopped breathing, and at another I was thrown into the story. The Punch Brothers have stopped writing music, and instead have provided their audience with a mind blasting experience. All I want to do is thank them for sharing their work with the world.

Love this EP!! Another New World definitely takes the cake on the best song, but all the others are pretty great too.....But I really can't wait for the 10" EP that's gonna come out on Record Store Day! :)

Recieved an actual copy as an early Christmas gift from a friend. He was one of the first to order, so it came signed by the band! Its the best gift I have ever received. Even though there are only five tracks, it may as well be their last three albums put together! Beautiful vocals by Thile, and amazing instrumentals by the group as a whole. Just pure musical bliss on so many levels. This group never ceases to amaze me with the way they surpass the limits set by themselves with each new release.

As per usual, the Punch Brothers have upped the ante (like in every album (even EPs)), and here we have yet another example of one of the most talented bands in decades doing what they do best: making the best music possible in ways never thought possible.

Unsurprisingly amazing work from the punch brothers. These guys are so incredible, they should never fly in small planes.

This EP is just another great example of how the Punch Brothers have changed what the music world thinks of bluegrass. Take five musicians that could stand alone with their talent, a desire to change what people think, and chemistry that all great groups require and you have the ingredients of a powerful musical experience. On this EP they have covered some great tunes and given them their own twist. Another New World is reason enough to get the whole album. And Icarus Smicarus is uniquely Punch Bros. They do not have bad tracks on their albums. I can't wait for their next full album.

So glad to finally have a copy of Another New World! Fell in love with this song when they performed it live in SLC last year and I've waited impatiently to be able to listen to it over and over again. Yay! Great EP. Thanks for giving us new songs to listen to, PB! ♥

I know that most of the songs on this EP are covers, but they are all new songs to me. I can't tell you how they compare to the originals, but from other albums, I know that they take their covers seriously and always respect the songs while making them their own. Few bands ever pull this off as successfully as these guys do it. I can tell you that if you enjoy Punch Brothers, this is an essential addition to your collection. Another New World is a beautiful ballad, which is a refreshing addition to their impressive catalogue. Down Along the Dixie Line, Moonshiner, and Squirrel of Possibility are going to satisfy the wants of anyone who enjoys bluegrass. Icarus Smicarus stands out as the funky song on the album, but every Punch Brothers album has at least one of these. I'm now intrigued enough by the song to look up the original. Keep up the great job boys. And if at all possible, PLEASE include y'all's cover of Reptillia in one of your future albums.
