This is a fun recording, and I saw the tour with this line-up in 2014. While I will never see Journey without Steve Perry, I saw Van Halen WITH David Lee Roth recently too which proved the old line ups are certainly NOT the best. Felder still has some SERIOUS break-up issues, but plays a great show. The new lead from Foreigner was flawless and they were BY FAR the best band of the three in the line-up. Styx pretended like no one would notice Dennis was gone and by, quite literally, their third song, so was much of the crowd. As when we saw them, I can't recommend Foreigner enough, but the current line-up for Styx should sail away down that river and do whatever is necessary to bring Dennis back! Buy the Foreigner tracks - worthy of the listen and money.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s listening to the original songs, and from reading some of the reviews I was a little skeptical about this, but I was surprised how good it is. The musical sound and mixing on these songs is really strong. Styx sounds fantastic. For those complaining about Dennis DeYoung, I think Lawrence Gowan sounds almost just like him and he's been with the band for a long time now. Tommy Shaw sings half of the Styx songs anyways and he still sounds great. James Young is also still there, so they have a pretty solid lineup that's been playing together for a long time now. Foreigner on the other hand is hanging on by a thread with only Mick Jones remaining from any of the early lineups. With that said however, the songs on this album sound almost identical to the originals. It seems like lots of attention was paid to the musical details when recording and mixing these new versions of the songs to make them sound and feel so much like the original versions. Hotel California is a nice bonus on here and Don Felder is still the man. Overall this was a good purchase and I'm very pleased. Not ashamed to crank it up in the car.

And these guys have it... Just saw the soundtrack of summer concert live and there was no question as to if I would purchase the album... Hotel California is simply amazing! As someone of a younger generation, these are the bands my parents listened to as teenagers, So glad to have gotten to see them live and to have the album to relive their musical talents!

Styx and Foreigner stopped being relevant to me a long time ago. But my 12-year old discovered "Renegade" on his own, and so we went to see the Sounds of Summer. It was the most fun I'd ever -- ever -- had at a rock concert.
