This is my favorite movie of all time. It was not until I was older that I found out Ms. Franklin sung the entire soundtrack. Talking about a kid being blown away. Your amazing voice, sweet spirit and kind heart will live on in your music, family and friends. Thank you for everything. Be blessed and Rest In Peace. And enjoy your new choir in the heavens!

Aretha’s voice is in the middle of its peak period here. She mostly sings in her upper range, but in truth she shows us the full range of her ability here. The big hit was “Something He Can Feel”, her sly, sultry take on infatuation. My personal favorite, and one of the best uptempo songs on the album is “Hooked On Your Love “. It’s another song about infatuation, but it also contains one of Aretha’s best performances ever.

I was 7 years old (76) when this soundtrack came out and I remember my mom and aunts signing these songs... Aretha is amazing and this is why she’s The Queen of Soul!!!
