At 77 years of age, Simon's voice isn't near what it used to be. The strength and control are shaky at times, reminding me of my own advanced years and inability to sing like I used to. (Simon and I are very close in age.) But the songs. Oh, the songs! Wonderful, insightful, interesting, introspective, poignant, delicate. As someone else commented, "Rene and Georgette and Their Dog After the War" is simply bettersweet wonderful and worth the price of the whole album. "How the Heart Approaches What It Yearns" was an interesting departure from any tonal center, and makes the listener a little uncomfortable, which I think was Simon's intention to begin with. All in all, a wonderful album.

This seals it. I've been a big fan of Paul Simon's music for a long time. If he doesn't release any more albums, then this one was a fine way to ride off into the sunset. I'm more than satisfied. Great concept. Great songs. Great performances. A must-listen for any fan. Thanks for everything, Mr. Simon.

I was surprised to see he put one of my older favorite of Simon songs(longest title)”Rene’ and Georgette Magritte with Their dog after the war.” Always melancholy to me but now Simon orchestrates it using long strings barely holding on & adds a perfect sadness-Knowing painter Magritte or not, Simon paints his work for you as only he can. As many do, many lyrics pass ppl by like headlights. I am glad how he, sadly did remake.-Tears to this immigrants eyes.

He performed a reimagined "Bridge over Troubled Water" on SNL 10/13. It was wonderful! Looked up this album and disappointed to find it here.

I bought it because it's from Paul Simon. I listened to the entire album, once I got it. SAD because I will never listen to it AGAIN. Too damned depressing and of little entertainment value, if ANY. SAD ending to a marvelous career. RJM

If you don't like these selections you don't know Paul Simon. This is class.

He performed these beautifully re-imagined versions of "Can't Run But" and "Rene and Georgette…" on his farewell tour, and honestly it was a real highlight of the show. Those two alone should be in every Paul Simon fan's library. I confess that I don't love every track here on first listen, but I really like most of it.

Absolutely horrible, if you can’t rock out, hang it up. Play this stuff for little kids about to go to bed.

The "re-imagining" of these songs is interesting to say the least. May take a few listenings to adjust to them. In his late 70s, his voice has never sounded better!
