I grew up on Simon and Garfunkle and have tracked all of Paul's work for the last 40 years. I have Surprise as my favorite album out of his entire body of work. Surprise is a good listen from beginning to end.

How can you even describe the incredible talent and career of Paul Simon? I dont know who I admire more, him or Van Morrison. His songs, including those on this album, are poetry but not just poetry, poetry blended perfectly with lyrics, harmony, rhythm, emotion. He should be our nation's poet laureate. Here's to the health and longevity of Paul Simon, long may he reign on our ipods, radios, hearts and minds.

    • Uplifting Lyrics and Music - Gets Better with Each Listen

I'm a child of the 70s who grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel and also appreciated Graceland when it came out. As with several of those older albums, I have added this album to my permanent iTunes playlist. The music is great and gets better each time I hear it. In true S&G tradition, the lyrics manage to be thought-provoking and politically relevant without being too cynical. This album in particular has several songs that celebrate children and family, and a couple that address the anxiety of aging. If you're a Paul Simon fan you will not be disappointed.
    • Paul Simon is Extremely Underrated

Some of us grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkle, and in reality their songs are still amazing. Paul Simon as a solo artist never fails to give quiet blue offerings, a marriage of sound and emotion, that is unequalled in today's heavily corporate-influence plastic music scene. This album here differs from his other offerings in the sense that he is using different musical approaches, but none of it is recycled. I strongly suggest you buy this album, you won't be disappointed.
