Some of Miles' best work can be found on here. From his tragic dedication song to Duke Ellington with the ambient like He Loved Him Madly, to the harmonica rich Red China Blues, to his "see where this takes" us Calypso Frelimo, you'll find everything on this album.
    • Don't you think they should get rid of the whole "Title" thing on reviews?

This was one of my first Miles Davis albums (a weird place to start...), yet so far is one of my favorites. Alot of it is very 'out there', like the ambient dirge of "He Loved Him Madly" and the noisy, proto-hip-hop-beat funk of "Rated X". But it's not all weird, "He Loved Him Madly" is really quite pretty and "Red China Blues" is very bluesy. Also most of it is very funky. Nonetheless, it proves to be fascinating sonically, some of the sounds he and his excellent set of musicians make are really cool and can very much set a mood. I am a fan of music that has the sort of 'out there' quality, so this is a big plus for me. Overall, if you are a fan of anything I have described or anything you hear from the previews (or Miles in general), get it (I suggest getting it on CD though, it's the same price with great liner notes.)
    • The Edge Of The World

Back in 1976, when I first experience these pieces of music, on this release, I was floored! It was so fresh, interesteing, compelling and breaking of ground in modern music, at the very edge of its world. All performers, as in most of Mile's releases, are a who's who in the Jazz world and the prove to live up to there hype on this release, yet again by their soul delivering and musicianship. The moods are funky, blusy and phsycodelic. Prepare for your ears to be bent if you have never listened to this.
