    • Rob Solo Album

This is less MB20 and more of a Rob solo album and he let the band come play this time. It’s not matchbox twenty. A couple songs almost get there, but fall flat. 12 years later since their last album. Should have expected this I guess. Mostly a let down.

I had never listened to Matchbox Twenty before this album… wow! I enjoyed so many things about it: Wonderful lyricism, excellent arrangement, skillful vocals, quality production and mature songwriting. I will wear this album OUT this summer. Great work!

Great to get a new album from these guys. Thought we had heard the last of their new stuff. Rebels is one of their best songs ever. Several other good tunes like Friends, Queen of NY city, One Hit Love & Hang on Every Word. This is motivation to see them live again, saw them in 2013, one of best concerts I ever saw. Looking forward to hearing these new songs live.

This ain't it guys. Sorry. Love the band. Saw you last night in Bakersfield and you rocked it. Absolutely phenomenal performance. The songs you played off this new album, were snoozers. You've gone down a folk rock road with this. Would like more of "Yourself or Someone Like you" style again. I'd say only 3 to 4 songs of the 12 were ready for release. The 1st single Slow Dogs is nice. I also like Warm Blood and No Other Love. Warm Blood showcases a different range to Rob's voice. The rest of the songs will forgettable or will be forgotten in a couple months. Again I love the band but this goes in a different direction of what I know your band to be. Anyways will always be a fan and support you. Thanks for touring in Bakersfield, CA.

It’s funny how haters say ‘they haven’t been good since their first cd…. Blah blah’ Then stop listening to them and find something else that makes you happy. 🤦‍♂️ Where The Light Goes is great start to finish. And for a band with 25 + years under their belts, it’s good to see and hear them back together! (At least there aren’t any 2 minute songs, which seems to be the lazy and annoying trend nowadays.) welcome back to a band that hasn’t lost any of their true artistic value!!!
    • Different but good

My first reaction to some of the songs was that this is not the Matchox Twenty that I have loved since the 1990s. Some are different in terms of the instrumentation and overall structure. Probably heavily influenced by Rob Thomas' solo career. But, are they enjoyable? Most of them, yep. There is one song I hated that I hid, but all the others I have listened to multiple times and enjoy. "Don't Get me Wrong" is an instant M20 favorite for me. One Hit Love and Selling Faith are my other two favorites from the album.
