Robin Trower continues to glow...

This record continues along the same soulful trajectory of Robin Trower's last LP
"Roots and Branches" sans the cover tunes. This is not a collection of blues rock, it is a mature soul record led by a grittier, more lyrical guitar than you will find on any modern soul record. Gorgeous production, rich and glowing guitar tones and a surprisingly consistent vocal performance by Trower. The music is stunningly beautiful and, in my opinion, it is his best work since "Seven Moons".

I love Trower and love something about every release. This albums gem is the title track. But I keep waiting for it to step up a notch and it doesn't. Just my opinion. What lies Beneath is still is best release to date...other than the classics. WLB had everything vibe, writing, production etc. 7 moons is still my favorite to date for heavy spacey vibe. But I'm sure this cd will grow on me like all of them do. I'm sure I'll hear an earful but just being honest. Will always be a fan for life. Thank you Robin for sharing your gift.

One of Robin Trower's finest hours here and from start to finish. His guitar playing these days is purely like a fine aged bottle of wine. This is a darker record for Robin with every track showing some real deep songwriting abilities on Robin's part. His lead vocals show great strength with conviction and he even plays bass on this release. From the title track until the last, Til I Reach Home, if you are a fan of Deep, Dark, Rock and Blues you will be truly satisfied. If you are a fan of Robin Trower, I need say anymore. Lastly, One of his most unique sounding recordings to date. Enjoy!
