This is actually better than the last two they’ve done. Fredric was starting to take them in a bad direction

The speed demons are at it again. Songs like “Astro Warrior Anthem” and “Burning Heart” showcase their trademark blazing solos and soaring melodies, and you may think there is nothing that will surprise you. However, DragonForce continues to reinvent what their brand of power metal can be, with songs like “Doomsday Party” and a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” showing just how versatile they can be. I’m already ready for more!

I agree with the guy that said this is something his 13 yo nephew would listen too. It sounds like a group of teenagers wrote this album.
    • Just horrible! 🤦‍♂️

Wow, just awful! First few releases were so good, but the last 2 releases have been horrible! Listen to your old music and go back to the studio and start over again! This sounds like something my 13 year old nephew would listen to.

Been a long time since I listened to DragonForce. Didn’t see any marketing or anything, just randomly thought of them and looked them up to find they have a brand new album. It’s so cheesy lol but Kingdom of Steel and Doomsday Party are unexpectedly good, Pixel Prison is classic DragonForce, and although they put elements in each song that make you go “yeah that’s definitely DragonForce,” the songs also feel very very different from their old songs. They experimented a lot more with different, sometimes unusual genres/sounds, they’re extremely blatant about the fact the songs are about video games (Power of the Triforce mentions Ganon, the Master Sword, Hyrule, the Triforce, etc., for one example, for another example there’s Space Marine Corp which mentions Primaris Space Marines from the Warhammer games, and Doomsday Party is so obviously about Fallout — anyways I digress), and overall it’s a bizarre but fun album that really could only happen if they’d decided to say “screw it, let’s make this album just for the fun of it.” It’s simultaneously cringey and refreshing as a result. If you look up the YouTube videos of it, you’ll also find that they put titled timestamps in videos of the songs and gave the timestamps humorous titles like “Hit Like If You’re a Gamer” and “All DragonForce Songs Sound The Same.”

This album was well worth the 5 year wait. DragonForce delivers once again. My favorite songs are The Killer Queen and Burning Heart. If I had to pick a worst song it would be space marine corp but I’m not a warhammer 40k fan to truly appreciate it. Nice evolution from EPM which I really loved. Nothing to do with the quality of the album but I wish they didn’t release so many singles before the full release. A great listen!

Awful. Covid must have really messed you guys up. I hope you feel better soon and start writing music like you used too. I keep hoping this is just a prank and the real deal is dropping any day. This is absolute trash. Not one song worth a download. I wish I had not pre-ordered but I was so excited to hear the new release. So disappointed.

Does it sound different? Yeah. Is it less about the speed and more…safe? Sure. But let’s be honest, no band stays exactly the same after all these years, and they are going in their second decade. It sounds a lot more tame, but I kinda like what they’re offering here. It’s the video game inspired music that made me like them to begin with. My opinion might change tomorrow when it drops but I’m here for it!
