One of my top 5 albums of all time. When I was 14 in 1967 I was more into Beatles & Stones, not Leonard Cohen. This music was too "'slow" for me at that age. Then "New Skin For The Old Ceremoney" was released and something became apparent to me. I heard Leonard Cohen for the genious he is. Listening again to "Songs of" I was amazed at the beauty and how simple but at the same time how complex this record is. A master of words and painting a picture with those words. I'm so sadden at his passing. I'm so thankful that his music continues to live.

My oldest brother gave this album to my older sister in 1967. I was perplexed at the back cover ( a brunette in chains reaching out from an engulfing fire). I listened to the music and thought is was rather quaint and simplistic, albeit pleasing. Then I heard the words. And I began to memorize them. To a fourteen year old boy, very interesting. And way cool. And a little disturbing. I heard Leonard died today and thought appropriate to reintroduce an old friend to my collection. Godspeed, Mr. Cohen
