Clearly "GET Inc" doesn't "GET IT"! The cheesy keyboards and sometimes disjointed backup vocals were a key to the point of this album. Music must not be grandiose to matter. An artist can be talented, human, and cheeky all at once while immensely important to helping us feel the little moments in life. These moments - many written on a near toy keyboard by Cohen in a modest Los Angeles duplex - do indeed matter. Be creative and dramatic says Cohen, but do not take any of it too seriously. I was fortunate to witness this tour from the 8th row at The Wiltern Theater in LA in 1988. That evening lives in my heart forever. And this album reminds me to be content to exist, create, observe, and share a wry smile with the world. Enjoy it for what it is. Do not require more. Expectations and attachments to them will inevitably lead to unnecessary suffering. Cohen stairs such in the face and walks us right past it into simple childlike bliss.

Having recently listened to 'Songs of Love and Hate' and 'Songs of Leonard Cohen' I was shocked by the production decisions of 'I'm your man'. The poppy background singers and frequent use synthesizers are unwe;lcome. I might pay to hear it remixed in a stripped down version. Cohen's voice dips down into the Nick Cave range, which is appealing.
