Kansas' first 3 albums are all great, especially Song For America. The title track is one of kansas' best songs.

This LP was my favorite in High School. Imcomudro was my theme song 2. I'm a Violin fanatic and here we find complex arranghments that make the violin parts shine thru. Lonely strret is an awesome hard rock tune. The Devil Game is a super relevant song to anytime or place. The vocals have always been Kansas' strong point. Everyone was listening to Boston and Styx and crap like that ( which I Love anyways) but meaning and purpose were always Kansas' strong suit. The lyrics have something to say and I've always enjoyed a meaningful song over the love songs that flood the market. My favorite Drum solo of all time on Hyn to the Atman. Songh for America is a stellar tune: Beautiful melody, Majestic music and meaningful lyrics. I've been Blessed for years by this album. Thank you Kansas for creating such a wonderful work of art. Love you guys forever. Love: Space Quinlan

I purchased this whole album just to get the two songs I wanted because they said "album only". After paying and downloading the entire album, it still won't let me have those two songs. It downloaded the entire album except for the two songs. Cheated!
    • American Prog's Finest Moments

Kansas is undoubtedly the most creative and talented of all American prog groups, and this is the proof. "Down the Road," like "Bringing it Back" from their first album, combines British-esque prog with a country rock sound. The ten-minute title track, "Song for America," is ten minutes of the best progressive music ever to emerge from the studio. The haunting "Lamplight Symphony" lives up to its name, being one of the more classical pieces on the album. "Lonely Street" has some killer guitars, but also grim, real-world lyrics, typical of most Steve Walsh composions. "The Devil Game" rocks, simply put, and the album-closing epic "Incomudro" is downright incredible and possibly the most powerful listening experience you will ever have.

There is no album I love more than this. I still have the vinyl I bought in 1975 which is, of course, WORN OUT! Song For America and Lamplight Symphony still give me chills when I hear them. The Ultimate album is great, but where the hell is Lamplight Symphony?? Down The Road is like Charlie Daniels meets Lynyrd Skynyrd. This album and Leftoverture are Kansas at their absolute best. When the violin player left the band the music suffered and became just another classic rock band. What a shame.
