    • The Elefante Show

Well, the cover kind of stinks. It looks nothing like a typical Kansas cover. The album also doesn't sound like a typical Kansas album. I actually like the sound of the album, which is both high-tech and loud and very heavy. I also think there are some great songs here, including Elefante's Fight Fire With Fire and Kerry Livgren's extremely heavy Mainstream and the album's closing number Incident on a Bridge, which is the closest they get to the classic Kansas sound. On the other hand, we get some very weak songs like Andi, Get Rich and Don't Take Your Love Away, all three written by Elefante. Tis a shame Livgren didn't have more of his songs here. And Robbie Steinhardt's singing and violin playing are badly missed. Still, there is about 4 or 5 strong tunes here. And I think this is better than any of the album's they did without Livgren. Not bad.

Let's be real here. This is barley Kansas especially without Steve and Robbie. The only song that remotely sounds like Kansas of old is End of Age. It is as good as any song they have done and could only be better if Robbies violin was added. Vinyl Confessions showed promisise with Mr Elepahante as the new singer and writer, but it did not carry over to this Drastic Measure, a perfect name for this less than worthy album and Kansas reputaion for excellent prog classical rock.
    • Really quite lame for Kansas

I've been listening to Kansas since 1978 & have seen them live 30 times. In my opinion this is by far the worst Kansas album!! (it's their only album that I do not have). After losing their second original band member they just did not sound like Kansas here. The albums before and after this are all better in my opinion...love the new one; Prelude Implicit!

This is solid work. Even the tracks that some say are weak are better if you put some headphones on and get somewhere alone. Clear your mind of the pre-conceived notion that it is just not traditional kansas. It's ok. It's not, but it is very solid work. I think this band is one of the most talented to ever grace the stage in the modern rock era.
    • Disappointing...

I love Kansas, including "Vinyl Confessions", but this album sacrificed inventiveness and originality for a more "Mainstream" sound. Moreover, it was the product of deep divisions within the group, leading to self-criticism and poor writing.

This Kansas album is more of a modern rock album. It's a different style from the Progressive Rock sound of their other albums . If you don't mind a more modern rock sound you may enjoy this album .

For true Kansas fans that are sick of hearing "dust in the wind". The band proves just how versatile they are. Fight fire with fire, Going through the motions, and Andi are simply some of the bands best work.

Like Vinyl Confessions, this rendition of Kansas had litte in common as far as musical style to the original lineup... If you like the original sound, you may be disappointed with this, though Fight Fire With Fire is pretty enjoyable for what it is.
