    • Way too intense for sleep

I have several Kelly Howell downloads and this one ( Deep Meditation) I can not recommend. It is a 30 minute 2 second (total) track CD. To start the back ground music was relaxing. It consists of Gregorian style chanting and underlying mono tones to hide the Theta waves. The problem lies with the foreground's various tonal chords which were just irritating and jarring! It consisted of various pipe organ sounds/chords which hide the Alpha,Beta,Delta waves. These chords were struck loud with a harsh ringing and then slowly brought up louder to the foreground over the drone chant. For me it was impossible to relax with turbulent intense pipe organ chords being struck every 10 seconds and held to a stinging crescendo. This was way too intense for a deep sleep meditation. Kelly Howell has many other terrific CD's and I would not recommend this one, especially if it is your first experience with her. If you do not like new age or chant music this is not for you. I can not blame her entirely - you only get to listen to 30 seconds of a half hour long ( total) meditation. You can not possibly get a feel for what you are getting. Having a 30 second snippet sample of an half hour long or longer CD is ridiculous! - no matter what artist you are listening to. I give this a CD a 'D' or 1 1/2 star at best - I rounded up. Kelly Howell's Awakening Kundalini instruction/guided meditation would be an 'A' or 5 stars. A side note:
    • A Great Meditation CD

After spending a lot of money and almost 10 years searching for an effective meditation technique, I finally found this cd. Sadly, I have used other Kelly Howell cd's in that time, but this is the first that consistently and quickly gets me into a deep meditation. I think it is because of the beta and alpha frequencies, which I previously avoided because that seemed counter to me in getting to a deeper level. Guess not. I wish someone would research and write more about the various combination of waves. Until then, I will exclusively use this cd to do my meditations. I need to make up for lost time.

This track is quite good - I just wish it was a little longer. 30 minutes isn't quite long enough, though I was under the weather when I tried it out. I still think it worked quite well, was *this close* to being completely asleep after listening. I recommend!

As a nursing student and mom, I have a lot on my plate. Therefore, I have a hard time falling asleep-my mind won't shut off. I originally got this album to help decompress and meditate before bed, and it never fails...I fall into a deep slumber within moments. So, this is now my sleep aid, in addition to meditation aid. I wake so refreshed. The key is that you HAVE TO WEAR EARPHONES for this to affect your brainwaves (check out the case if you get the CD-that is the instructions). Happy sleep.
